Its always nice to have a break from the humdrum of everyday shit. I got tuesday and wednesday off work, and i spent pretty much the whole two days sitting around watching various movies, chobits, and cowboy bebop…

I found out that the tech support laptop ive been taking home for almost a year anna half (when its my turn, anyway) does svideo out. I was able to watch everything on my tv, and the sound out to my stereo (that prehistoric oldschool dolby surround). It was nice.

Also, Squidy and I have been kicking around the idea of purchasing two brand new g4 powerbooks. Not to go into detail, but those little beasts do a motherfucking lot of stuff. (dvdr… YUM). They’d be little portable movie-watching, wireless lan, gigabit ethernet, hax0rboxes. Course.. theyre like 3400 bux each. *groan*

We’ve been talking about building a theartre for the livingroom. With the laptops, we dont need to worry about how we’re gonna get network cable from one end of the house to the other without drilling holes, or running the shit on the floor all the way to the other side of the living room. Now we just need the stereo, the projector and the rack. *demonic cackle*

Toys aside, my trip out to vegas is coming up. Cannibal and I are driving out to vegas to see Jimmah and Jacquie at their place, along with some other goons from #stile. this ought to be a most entertaining trip. (those laptops would be nice for the drive) I have no new media for this post.. though the idea of posting all of chobits and azumanga daioh is tempting, im sure my host wouldnt approve of me putting up 8.5 gigs of anime on his box. (english translation == dan makes out a will). Review time is coming up in march and im fucking praying they like.. give me some flashy new title so they can give me a giant raise. I’d be *REALLY NICE* not to be on the phones anymore. Doing projects and working at my own accelerated pace, i’d be able to get a lot more shit done as opposed to waiting for some cretin to install MSDE.

I realized this years ago, but to re-iterate : I get REALLY into movies and shows (if theyre top shelf, that is). Watching good movies with a really intriguing plot, sometimes I’ll get so into it I start hyperventilating. Years ago when i went to go see ‘the rock’ was a good example. It sounds fucking weird, and I’m behind you all the way, but goddamn it makes the movie so much more enjoyable. Same thing happened years ago when babylon5 came out, and just recently when I watched azumanga daioh and chobits. For those of us that appreciate anime, a GOOD anime isnt super easy to come across. The ones that I find that are worth watching, are worth keeping. This holiday i burned nearly 50 disks worth of anime for myself, and various friends. All of chobits, cowboy bebop and azumanga daioh. Furi Kuri, trigun, princess mononoke and abe nobashi. *pant pant*.. I need a faster burner. (laptop reference..;b ) Chobits was an anime I really got into.. and as promised I present my explination of what made chobits so good.

Everyone wants what they cant have. Its the way we work. If there is something we know exists, and it is withinn our grasp, we try for it.. in most scenarios anyway. This also applies to the projection of emotion through media. Watching something that has a grasping story, I basically include myself into the dialogue and interaction trying to think ‘what would *I* do if that was me..’ and it gets me every time. Azumanga daioh brought me back to my highschool days, except without the presence of those stupid nazi fucks, and other bothersome entities who id have shot years ago if I didnt fear incarceration from local and federal authority figures >:>. Chobits took me to a place I’d never really been. A place where a girl sincerely likes me. I suppose its why guys find that innocence and complete lack of worldly experience so attractive. Everyone loves those sheltered cute little girls that are almost like little children in a sense, because for lack of a better term , ‘they dont know any better’. In chobits, motosuwa finds a persocon (dont ask questions, just watch it :P ) and basically teaches her everything she knows. The story has a number of twists and such, but for all intents and purposes is almost like a sci-fi comedy drama. (mmm..sci fi..). Overall, yes im a fucking nitwit, but at least im easily entertained :)

I find myself sitting at work listening to dooms episode 1 mission 3 and remembering the days when i heard these tracks over and over and over again as i scoured the levels of this game for secrets, playing at 3am with the lights off and the sound up in my old room at my parents house. (much like my halflife days!). I was able to negotiate the latest two episodes of invader zim as well!… unfortunately the show has kinda gone downhill since ‘gir goes crazy and stuff’. They found out the show was getting the ax, and made the charachters flat out stupid. Zim used to be relatively intelligent, but now he is a blathering idiot. Gir used to be funny and now he’s just stupid. I have yet to see walk of doom, but from ‘the worst xmas ever’ its apparent they quit trying.

I hate it when that happens.
