Yow, I really need to write more often.

The trouble is I don’t want to write about ‘me’. Im fed up with all these people filling the cloud with useless information about themselves that matters to NOBODY. When guys do it, nobody cares, but when a pretty girl does it all the sudden shes got thousands of friends. Some things never change I guess.

I’ve been getting way into photography, and taking paid hacking gigs. Its neat - being paid to hack is .. awesome :)

Today I was screwing around with lens stacking. Its pretty cool! It’ll have to do till i get that 105mm nikkor macro :D

This conference really reminded me of DefCon.

Reason being is that once noon rolled around, the twitters flying around were all about which parties to hit in what order that night. All the networking and all the real talk happened after the actual event, at the parties.

For example, Pete Casmore of mashable.com hired me to be his ‘personal’ photographer during the entire event. Nice little bonus: being able to add mashable.com to the Aten Syndicate list of clients!

The event overall was very enjoyable, except for the coming-home-with-the-plague part.

There was a very large Adobe/Flex presence, and most of the talks that I went to were almost flat out developer related. There were a few that I missed because too much awesome stuff was going on, but overall it was awesome. Here are some highlights!

I’ve gone freelance, under the atensyndicate name and I’ve landed my first contract. I’ll post more as more develops.

I’m heading up to the Web2.0 expo next week, so expect the usual writeup and pictures from that.

I have to appologize in advance for the delay of this post - 6 days of conferences and the subsequent slurry of contact info being exchanged, catch up work, etc has kept my head in the sand until now.

BarCamp LA 5 went off AWESOME. It was held at the AOL offices in Beverly Hills - very posh!

I joined forces with Dave Bullock to take geek portraits of the barcampers, which turned out wonderfully, here are a few of them:

I gave a presentation on hacking reality, which went over very well (you win when there are people standing in the back of the room! :D):

I met a TON of really cool people, including the girl who runs askachola.com. I met the CTO of mahalo.com, and spent sunday morning with Dan Kaminsky talking about some potential vulnerabilities I found with some recent rss/social feed aggregators.
