I feel pretty accomplished so far.
- Took a few hundred pictures, tried to report on homes of friends and family
-
- Helped put out a handful of small fires
- liveblogged all day yesterday on twitter
- spoke with police, gave them water, gave water to civilian firefighters
- Successfully flanked the cops and got back into my home
- Backed up gigs and gigs of customer data
- Got linked on wired.com
The police in the RB/4s Ranch are are cruising for looters. I got ONE BLOCK (to the chevron on dove canyon) and they stopped us, and had us ‘leave the area’, which meant we booked it back home.
That being said, taking the safer route Tom and I didn’t hesitate to load our pistols and put them on the coffee table in front of us ‘just in case’. Made for a neat picture though :) You can certainly tell we’re geeks, and we attend security conferences (I was at toorcon when the fires started, I have a post about toorcon pending too)
At the moment I’m basically confined to my home, but that certainly wont stop me from wandering around my immediate area on foot and taking some pics. I’ll be posting to twitter and flickr for the rest of the day on and off, so if you’d like to watch the streams feel free.
Also - remember all the photography I post to flickr is creative commons - PLEASE USE IT.. and just give me credit for the photo :)
I spoke with Mike Calore from wired.com and he’s supposed to be posting some more info hes aggregated from myself and some other folks.
Stay tuned!
